RE: Fl. to ?? best week long trip from Fl.

If our trip plans are to do a lot of sightseeing I'm a little more flexible on the CG, but I do everything possible to get the best of both. Even if it means driving a bit further to those attractions.
So my advice is determine the priorities. If a good part of your trip is the enjoyment of the CG be sure to check what others say about it. Usually you can get a sense of what is good or bad from these.
Reviews of Stone Mountain
Once you decide on the trip goal (Atlanta area for example) -- research which is the best place to stay. Stone Mtn is one -- perhaps there are others. That's the question to start asking next if you think you can do better than Stone Mtn.

RE: Fl. to ?? best week long trip from Fl.

We spent 10 days @ Old Federal COE CG in Flowery Branch, GA last April. DH was gone 5 days on a business trip...otherwise we'd probably only spent 4 nights there but we loved it.
See some pics here.
See pics of every site @ the CG here. And the other Lake Lanier CGs
Make reservations by site here.

You might try Crystal Lake in Naples. We've never stayed there but here good things about it.

RE: Tiffin 07 Allegro Bus Big Slide issue

I agree it is not necessary to give all the specifics they ask for there. But it just needs the fields filled. Nobody can verify the accuracy.
I don't reveal all my personal information on forums either -- it's none of their business, but to work around it - I just make up things that I choose not to share. e.g, For the phone number I just put in all zeroes. If it had a check for different numbers - I'd just make up one.

RE: Port Everglades Ft. Lauderdale where to park 45' Prevost

Yachthaven will cost you $215 just for a week. Plus it gets really poor reviews. RVParkreviews
You could rent a spot in a storage facility for less than that. Monthly rates tend to be about $120-140/month. For an outside spot. Inside are hard to come by -- waiting lists for those.
My first choice would be in a secured storage site vs some parking lot. But I would also feel quite comfortable with it at T.Y Park -- if you can get a spot. This time of year it is packed with snowbirds.

RE: Class A - Motorhome Resort in Sevierville, Tennessee

It is unfortunate that so many folks are unable to see and appreciate the different options without labeling it. But I'm guessing some folks are just venting. That's what people do when things don't fit their paradigm.

RE: Tiffin 07 Allegro Bus Big Slide issue

We had a slide problem one time. Tiffin techs said to give the solenoid a whack with a small wrench. It worked. But you may want to post your question on the TiffinRVNEtwork forum in case your problem is different.. or to know exactly where to look. We only have 2 slides. Lots of owners there and you'll likely get a faster answer.

We can stop our mail service online. Maybe you can stop and start it once a month. Maybe it's not too much hassle to have your son can go check on it once a month.

RE: Class A - Motorhome Resort in Sevierville, Tennessee

Kinda weird. If you look at the web site pictures they show a family with a dog. What gives here?
Good catch. I still wonder if that rule is for their stick rentals..the lodges, cabins etc. I know your confirmation stated that in writing Scott -- but did you talk to them specifically. Perhaps that confirmation is just a form letter that they have used long before the Class A lots were built.
Or perhaps owners are exempt from the rule.

RE: People using your camp site

Our method of operating - always speak up for yourself, but first make a proper assessment on how. Sometimes you can speak directly with the neighboring campers other times it is best to let the park management handle it. The goal is to solve it in a manner that works best for everyone.

RE: Does the problems ever stop???

In another thread you indicate you are using same TP as home.
Earlier thread
So a thought is perhaps that is contributing to the problem? Also we learned early on it's important to flush the black tank with a separate hose while dumping the black tank. And I wonder are you using anything to help break down the solids.
Just some ideas to consider. We all have our share of learning experiences. On our first trip in a rental we did not know a thing about the dumping process. And did not know to do the grey tank last. Stuff like that. If you are like us just reading manuals doesn't always work. Only when the problems occur do we truly understand. Good luck.

RE: Class A - Motorhome Resort in Sevierville, Tennessee

Scott - a couple of questions for you.
Were you assigned a site or did you get to pick one? Do you know what # the one with the fireplace is?
In the 2nd pic there are some buildings opposite the fence right behind a couple of sites. I wonder if those are private homes or part of the resort? Any idea? The grey one looks a little like a temp building you often see in new subdivisions -- the kind a developer uses as an office. Just curious. They seem a little close to the fence but maybe that's just the picture angle.
I think we might try to get up there next year. I like the resort -- kinda place my DH would really like. Especially all the places to walk/ride bikes. The no pet restriction doesn't affect us. Not right now anyway.

RE: To purchase a RV lot in a park... or not!

Traverse Bay RV Resort seems really nice, but why would you want to own a lot that's only available May 1st to October 31st?
In an ideal world we'd own more than one lot. Maybe even 3 -- west coast, east cost and up north. Traverse Bay could be a summer destination. We'd travel for several months and end up at the ownership parks for holidays or if we decided to take a break one season just plop down.
But that is an ideal world. What we decide to do is a long ways down the road.
I look at this post as just a way to share ideas.

RE: Port Everglades Ft. Lauderdale where to park 45' Prevost

Here's a link to an earlier thread on these parks where you can see some pics of Markham Park and C.B. Smith.
Thread
Another option is to try this storage facility. Florida Secure Self Storage. This is where we keep our MH in an indoor spot. Although they rent month to month maybe you'll get lucky and they'll let you stay for a shorter time. On Sheridan road -- easiest access is off Route 27 but you can also get there off I-75.

RE: Port Everglades Ft. Lauderdale where to park 45' Prevost

Try one of the Broward County parks.
T.Y. is close to I-95 in Hollywood Florida. Renovated recently - nice long sites.
Markham Park is in Sunrise -- off Rt 84.
C.B. Smith is in Pembroke Pines not far from I-75.
All nice parks with full hookups - they keep an eye on the CGs. T.Y. probably has the longest sites - the others you'll have a smaller # to pick from.
The link above has pretty good picture of T.Y. We have stayed @ Markham Park and C.B. Smith. I'll add a link to some pictures of those as soon as I locate them.

RE: To purchase a RV lot in a park... or not!

We are not fulltiming and probably never will, but sometimes think about buying a lot when we both retire. But Bluewater.. Yikes! We are here right now in this site. It's for sale. 690K.
http://hereslucy.squarespace.com/storage/campground/october-2008/BW%20Site%2051.jpg
I hope someone is taking good care of the ficus bushes they have here - they are everywhere in this resort. On some lots it is the only way they offer privacy. Ficus bushes in South Florida are being attacked by a new white fly. As a result in Ft. Lauderdale many bushes are nothing but sticks.
Anyway, an ownership resort we really like is Traverse Bay RV Resort. I haven't researched it enough to know what you get, but it is really pretty up there.
